Lower Back Pain – Karuna Sircar

Therapeutic Yoga and Mindfulness for Chronic Lower Back Pain

I (Karuna Sircar) am a yoga practitioner under my Gurus – Ms. Nina Sagar and Mr. Varun Sagar at ASYMI Yoga Centre. Due to personal reasons, I took a break from yoga for over a year and during pandemic my health got deteriorated with acute Lower back pain. When I consulted orthopaedic doctor, advised that I’ve a posture issue and prescribed painkillers along with that asked for physiotherapy, which I did but I didn’t see any significant improvement in me. It was relapsing when I discontinue the treatment.

I was very disappointed and frustrated as I was unable to do either my yoga practice nor regular chores. Always lying on Bed. I discussed my condition with my Gurus. They advised me to join Therapeutic Yoga. Trust me in just 3 days I can see improvement in me and I felt Very Energetic. My Gurus advised me to practice at home and make a note on which Asanas, I was finding pain. I continue to practice at home and took 15 sessions, again it’s not about number of sessions, it’s about how I felt after each session and discuss at therapeutic centre, about my discomfort. My expert Gurus find various techniques with the help of their knowledge and props now I’m doing regular yoga sessions under their supervision.

Yoga therapy is a self-empowering process. where I seek, with the help of my Yoga Therapist Gurus Ms. Nina Sagar and Mr. Varun Sagar, implements a personalized and evolving Yoga practice, that not only addressed my pain in a multi-dimensional manner, but also aimed to alleviate my suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary manner.

Depending upon on nature of the pain/illness, Yoga therapy can, not only be preventative or curative, but also serve a means to manage the pain/illness, or facilitate healing in the person at all levels.

Thanks to my Gurus – Ms. Nina Sagar and Mr. Varun Sagar
